Tirzepatide injection is used to treat type 2 diabetes. It is used together with diet and exercise to help control your blood sugar. Tirzapatide is a glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptor and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist.
Tirzepatide injection is also used to help lose weight and keep the weight off in patients with obesity caused by certain conditions.

For type 2 diabetes, obesity, or excess weight caused by medical problems :
- Adults—At first, 2.5 milligrams (mg) injected under the skin once a week for 4 weeks. Your doctor may increase your dose as needed. However, the dose is usually not more than 15 mg once a week.
